Introduction
There are a number of ancillary tasks that need or should be done when embarking on amateur radio astronomy projects. The professional astronomer, generally speaking, can concentrate on observational tasks using facilities developed and maintained by other parties. Amateurs on the other hand, except for members of a large club or group, have to do all these support tasks themselves.
The following notes document some of those ancillary tasks.
- NRARAO
Site Survey - Determination of True North: fields of
view and the identification of possible antenna sites. (PDF -
1.06 MB)
- DMM Data
Logging - Using consumer-grade digital multimeters for slow
speed data logging. (PDF - 0.42 MB)
- LNBFs For 12GHz Radio Astronomy - Selection of
suitable TVRO LNBFs: their care and feeding. (PDF - 0.92 MB)
- Satellite Finder Meters - Modification and Characterisation. (PDF - 2.3 MB)
